eTA

Electronic Travel Authorization

Do I need a Canadian eTA?
Yes, if you are flying in — not by land or sea.

The eTA is tied to the passport it was issued against and is checked before boarding. Arriving by road or by ferry, it does not apply at all.

The government fee has not moved since the scheme began in 2015, which makes the bundled service charges you will see elsewhere easy to spot.

Checked against the issuing government's own pages on 14 August 2026.

What's wrong out there

Figures that circulate widely and are not supported by the official pages.

Commonly got wrongAgency sites bundle a “service fee” of $50 to $100 onto a seven-dollar form. IRCC banners the correction itself: apply only on the official site.

What changed

Newest first. Every entry links the government page it came from.

Indonesia and Malaysia added to Canada's eTA route

Citizens of Indonesia and Malaysia who have held a Canadian visitor visa in the past ten years, or hold a valid US non-immigrant visa, can now apply for a CA$7 eTA instead of a visitor visa. It only covers arrival by air — entry by car, bus, train or boat still needs a visa.

How this is checked

Every figure comes from a primary government source — the regulation, the statutory instrument, the immigration department's own page — and carries the date it was read. Commercial visa agencies are never used as a source; several appear above as examples of stale data.

Where a government hasn't published something, the field is left blank and says so. A blank is honest. A confident wrong number is what this site exists to correct.

Entry rules change without notice and the final decision always rests with a border officer. Check the official link before you travel. This is not immigration advice.
